Wisely ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how our mobile application ("Wisely") collects, uses, stores, shares, and protects your information, including any data obtained through Google APIs.

Data We Collect

When you use Wisely we collect: your account information (name, email, sign-in method), the study content you provide (questions you type, photos, PDF documents, voice recordings, and video links you share), your app activity (features used, quizzes completed, subscription status), and technical data (device identifiers, crash reports, performance data).

How We Use AI Providers

Wisely is powered by artificial intelligence. To generate your answers, quizzes, flashcards, and study plans, the study content you provide — typed questions, uploaded photos and PDFs, voice recordings, and video links — is transmitted securely to our AI service providers: Anthropic (Claude), Google (Gemini), and OpenAI (Whisper). The app asks for your consent before your first AI request. Your content is used solely to generate your study results; it is never used for advertising and never sold. These providers process the data under their own privacy and security commitments providing equivalent protection.

Other Service Providers

We use Google Firebase (authentication, database, file storage), Sentry (crash reporting), and PostHog (product analytics) to operate and improve the app.

Tracking

Wisely does not track you across other companies' apps or websites, does not show third-party ads, and never shares your data with data brokers.

Data Deletion

You can permanently delete your account and all associated data at any time in the app: Settings → Account & security → Delete account.

Information We Collect

When you use Wisely, we may collect the following categories of data:

• Account Information: Your email address, display name, and profile photo when you create an account or sign in with Google or Apple.
• Google User Data: If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture as provided by Google's authentication service. We do not access any other Google account data (e.g., contacts, calendar, Drive files).
• Camera & Photos: With your permission, we access your camera and photo library so you can capture or upload notes and textbook pages to generate study material.
• Microphone & Audio: With your permission, we access your microphone to record voice questions for the AI tutor. Audio is processed to provide answers.
• Study Data: Notes, documents, flashcards, quiz attempts, and other study materials you create, upload, or interact with within the app.
• Usage Data: Analytics about how you use the app (e.g., feature usage, crash and performance reports), which may be associated with your account.
• Subscription Data: When you purchase a subscription, Apple processes the payment and we receive purchase status to unlock premium features. We never receive your card details.
• Device Identifiers: We use a device identifier to send push notifications (e.g., study reminders).

How We Use Your Information

We use the data we collect solely to provide and improve the Wisely app. Specifically:

• To create and manage your Wisely account
• To sync your study materials and progress across your devices
• To personalize your study plan and AI tutoring experience
• To communicate with you about updates, support, or service-related notices
• To ensure the security and integrity of your account

We use Google user data exclusively to authenticate your identity and provide the core functionality of the app. We do not use Google user data for advertising, marketing, or any purpose unrelated to providing or improving Wisely's user-facing features.

AI Processing

To power features such as AI tutoring, practice question generation, and explanations, your study content may be sent to trusted AI service providers for processing. This data is processed solely to deliver the requested feature and is not used to train third-party models without your consent.

Data Sharing, Transfer & Disclosure

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data — including any Google user data — to third parties, data brokers, or information resellers.

We may share limited data only in the following circumstances:

• Service Providers: We share data with trusted providers who help us operate the app: Firebase/Google Cloud (backend infrastructure), PostHog (analytics), Sentry (crash and performance monitoring), OneSignal (push notifications), and Apple/Google (sign-in and payments). Each provider processes data only on our behalf under strict confidentiality agreements.
• Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, regulation, or valid legal process.

Data Protection & Security

We take the security of your data seriously and implement industry-standard measures to protect it, including:

• Encryption of data in transit (TLS/SSL) and at rest
• Secure authentication protocols
• Regular security reviews and monitoring
• Access controls to limit data access to authorized personnel only

While we strive to protect your information, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure.

Data Retention & Deletion

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with the Wisely service.

• Account and study data is retained for the duration of your active account.
• Usage analytics are retained for as long as needed for product improvement and may be aggregated over time.
• When you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal data within 30 days, unless we are legally required to retain it.

You may request deletion of your data at any time by contacting us at hello@wisely.app or using the account deletion option within the app.

Children's Privacy

Wisely is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn that we have collected data from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the app or by updating the "Last updated" date above.
